Functional overview

We are looking for a 2D Artist who is eager to join and work with a strong and passionate team that creates strategy games and fantasy worlds.

As a 2D Artist, you will be responsible for working with the Producer and Lead Artist on the visual development of existing titles as well as new IP within the studio. You are expected to provide the teams with inspirational illustrations as well as production artwork, including; concept art on character designs, environment and object exploration, paint overs, storyboards, color, lighting compositions, graphical designs and layouts for webpages, marketing assets, and general PR materials. You will also be using your passion for great art to regularly suggest and drive improvements to the game, both visually and as a whole.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide layered illustrations for storyboards, CG sequences, UI elements, online web comics, or game assets
  • Create character and environment concepts for 3D asset production. This means that there should be concept turnarounds, texture and material gathering, and the ability support the 3D texturing process
  • Ability to mockup in-game screens according to specifications set by the team leads
  • Design promotional art based on the game’s characters and environments
  • Actively lead and communicate production methodologies and art pipelines that would improve production workflows to be implemented by other artists (for seniors)
  • Help in analyzing and evaluating other art-related asset submissions from team members (for seniors)
  • Explore new techniques and technologies, while expanding and refining your own artistic skill and sharing these to the team

Minimum competencies and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year working in the game industry as a concept artist or illustrator
  • Deep understanding of lighting, composition and mood
  • Strong sense of anatomy and shape language
  • High level of drawing and illustration skills both in digital and traditional mediums
  • Vast imagination, able to visualize and interpret ideas of other people
  • Ability to visualize and properly communicate ideas that contribute to the project’s vision
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team 
  • Has a strong game sense, passion for games
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Willingness to grow and learn
  • Able to adapt to new ideas and experiences
  • BONUS: has working knowledge of Unity, and some add-ons like Cinemachine and Timeline
