KMC Solutions has officially become the first Employer of Record and flexible workspace provider in the Philippines to achieve B Corp certification—joining a global movement of businesses balancing profit with purpose.
The certification was granted by global nonprofit B Lab in February 2024, following a rigorous, months-long review of KMC’s impact across five key categories: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. KMC earned a B Impact Assessment score of 80.4—clearing the 80-point certification threshold and significantly outpacing the global average of 50.9.
With this milestone, KMC becomes the first Employer of Record (EOR) and flexible workspace provider in the Philippines to earn B Corp status. It joins fewer than 10 certified companies in the country, setting a precedent for how local firms in commercial real estate can meet and maintain global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
In the office space sector, B Corp certification is fast becoming a proxy for operational integrity. It confirms that a provider meets verified global standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance—reducing compliance friction and reputational risk while accelerating due diligence. For companies balancing procurement discipline with ESG mandates, a certified workspace partner offers not just infrastructure, but alignment—built on transparency, ethical operations, and third-party accountability.
KMC’s B Corp certification reflects company-wide alignment with global ESG priorities. This alignment is evident in the following impact areas:
These categories align directly with what enterprise clients are asking from vendors in 2024: transparency, resilience, and accountability.
This performance solidifies KMC’s standing as a responsible and future-ready workspace provider. It also reinforces its global credentials: KMC remains the first company worldwide to hold all three WELL Building certifications—WELL Health-Safety, WELL Equity, and WELL Coworking—across its 30+ flexible office locations across Metro Manila, Clark, and Cebu.
As part of the B Corp process, KMC Community, Inc.—its legal entity—also submitted a public Disclosure Report. The report noted that in 2022:
While B Lab flagged these as associations with “controversial industries,” KMC stated it conducts KYC (Know Your Client) verification, screens clients against the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklist, and exercises enhanced due diligence for these sectors to ensure ethical alignment.
As global firms advance their ESG and DEI commitments, workspace providers across Southeast Asia are expected to follow suit. Certifications like B Corp are increasingly seen as reputation markers—and in some sectors, a prerequisite for doing business with multinational clients.
For Philippine businesses pursuing cross-border partnerships or responsible growth, the B Corp badge isn’t just a feather in the cap—it’s a compass for the future of work.
More Than Amenities: How B Corp Certification Reflects Company Values
Coworking, once marketed for lifestyle flexibility and amenities, is being redefined by principles like accountability, inclusivity, and climate-conscious design.
KMC’s certification applies to its full portfolio of workspaces located in Makati, BGC, Ortigas, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and Cebu—each designed to deliver both productivity and purpose.
Whether you’re a startup expanding into new markets in Cebu or an enterprise building a purpose-driven footprint in the heart of central business districts like Makati or BGC, KMC’s certified offices offer more than flexibility—they offer accountability, alignment, and assurance.
